If You Want To Be a True Strategic Investor, you MUST Not Get Distracted The Way Everyone Else Does.

The more I watch people get all hot and bothered by the latest "headline," I find myself shaking my head (and sometimes my fist) increasingly more often our of pure frustration. Although some of these issues are somewhat interesting - they truly do become distractions. Arguments, posts, snivelling ... all blowing up around subjects that, frankly, in your ability to get things done for yourself and your family mean very little. (before you post a response to this statement, please read this whole post and the link.)

With that 'frustration' in mind. May I implore you to read my latest blog post (written only for Strategic Investors, if you are not one don't read it please).

I couldn't agree more in regards to the paradox of choice. I think this is a major reason that my generation has seen such an age shift in life cycle milestones. It's later and later in life that the average person is moving out of home, finishing university, buying their first home, and getting married. I don't really see much evidence that we (as a collective average) are doing anything "better". (Although we have taken some positive steps in environmental responsibility and human rights)

Libertarianism has grown up to be an entitlement for indecision. Great post Don.

Thank you... it is sad to see the shift towards victimhood.

I am noticing a grave increase in people 'looking to be offended' by the smallest thing... which they then turn into a major issue in their life. Almost with the hope of "See I Told You!" (which then gives them an excuse not to perform because their sensitive feelings are hurt).

There are now professors in University unwilling to stir debate (isn't that what higher education is all about?). Unwilling to discuss calssic literature in case there is a formal complaint laid against them from one of their hundreds of students - a situation that hurts the hundreds who are not 'offended' by hearty discussion.

When we extrapolate this trend out - it doesn't end well for future discussion, debate or government. As more of the important discussions and debate will go underground for fear of public or social media back-lash.
