Self Managing in Edmonton-myREINspace - Canada's Leading Real Estate Forum

Hi - I live in BC and I was thinking about self-managing a townhouse in Edmonton. I would like to hear from someone who is already doing remote self management in Edmonton. I've searched around in myreinspace and found some topics but I wanted to get specific information on how it is done.

For example,
1. How do you go about showing the suite to potential tenants? Do you have someone in Edmonton that will show the unit? If yes, how much do they charge?

2. Once you have chosen a tenant, how do you go about doing the initial walk through and give the new tenant a key?

3. when the tenant leaves, how do you do the final inspection?

4. How do you handle rent cheques? Do the tenants mail you 12 cheques for a 1 year lease?

5. Does the tenant set up their own utilities in their own name?

6. How do you handle emergency situations and regular repairs?
