Some insights into the negotiations in the media that we will continue to see:

The threat from ENCANA has come right after they completed a concerted effort to divest (sell off) the majority of their international assets so they can focus solely on the North American market. Knowing that the majority of that has to be in Alberta (due to the lack of availability elsewhere in the continent), you'd have to wonder where they would go.

These are exciting times in the industry and there are MANY MANY deep pockets playing in this field and hiring lawyers, PR & Media experts and the lobbying behind closed doors is enormous. The sad part is that many of the media stories are written without a true look at what would work for both parties. The general theme seems to be "Albertans Have Gotten Ripped-Off." I think when you peel the onion a bit, you can see that oil production is critical to Canada as well as Alberta, and this mass generalization that we're being ripped-off is hurting the discussion and turning it into an uninformed, emotional issue.

Something will be done that will help all parties save face (politician and energy companies) After the announcement the opposition parties in the Leg building will be up in arms, the media will be up in arms, the general public (who are mostly uninformed by what the reality of the situation is) will be up in arms and the oil companies wil be up in arms. In other words you will witness (once again), that every party involved in this situation will say that they lost, which in turn will make for some great headlines!

Sophisticated investors have seen this whole thing occur many, many times over during the last 15 years... and we're taking action while everyone is frozen in panic.

One year from now, the public will be on to some other issue while the sophisticated investors continue to stay the course.

If you want to read a great book that will help you identify why only a few investors make the majority of the money, I recommend you grab a copy of "The Dip" by Seth Godin Then you can choose whether to get caught up in the masses panic, or live in courage and be an investor rather than a speculator.

Watch the headlines, you'll chuckle after the announcement is made and you see all the parties already have their responses written. Guess what, the responses are already written TODAY even before any announcement. they are just sitting there waiting for the send button to be hit.

    Enjoy the ride!
