Moncton's surplus military homes being snatched up

Only one of 74 surplus military homes in Moncton's Acadia Park is still up for sale.

There was a lot of interest in the single and semi-detached houses, which only hit the market in January, said Remax agent Bea Richford, who sold a couple of them.

Halifax sees spike in house prices

New housing prices in Halifax are on the rise.

But the recent statistics are not all that they appear, warn real estate experts.

Statistics Canada’s new housing price index shows that Halifax recorded one of the largest price increases in February (up 0.4 per cent) of all Canadian cities.

St. John's home prices see moderate appreciation during first quarter

ST. JOHN'S, April 15, 2015 /CNW/ - The Royal LePage House Price Survey released today showed average home prices experienced slight increases across all housing types surveyed in St. John's during the first quarter of 2015.

The average price for a standard two-storey home in St. John's increased by 1.8 per cent year-over-year to $407,667. Standard condominiums rose 1.7 per cent to $320,833 and detached bungalows gained 1.4 per cent to $300,100.

Fredericton house prices a mixed bag in first quarter of 2015

FREDERICTON, April 15, 2015 /CNW/ - The Royal LePage House Price Survey released today reflected a slight increase in the price of condominiums and a slight softening in the price of a two-storey homes and detached bungalows.

The condominium market strengthened this quarter with average prices rising 2.0 per cent to $154,000. The price for a standard two-storey home decreased 2.3 per cent to $210,000 while the price for a detached bungalow decreased 0.5 per cent to $202,000.

Nova Scotia MLAs to get pension eligibility after 2 years

Nova Scotia MLAs now only have to serve for two years to become eligible for a pension after a panel that examined how members are compensated recommended the change in a report released Wednesday.

A three-member panel said the pay for members of the legislative assembly should stay the same, but pensions should come sooner.
