`There has been some activity in this sector nationally for the past few months and Nova Scotia is part of this trend,` Jeannine Usalcas, a Statistics Canada analyst, said in an interview.

`The pace of residential construction in the HRM slowed last month,` said Matthew Gilmore CMHC`s Senior Market Analyst for Halifax. `The reduced level of new construction starts in the city was largely attributed to a significant reduction in apartment construction as no new apartments were started in November compared to 479 units in October,` Gilmore added. `In the single-detached segment of the market, starts also declined in November,` said Gilmore.

Across the Maritimes, a winter of little discontent

Crane told The Guardian she had known for months her time was up and had been getting ready to make it public. She wasn't blaming the Corporate Research Associates poll, which puts support for the Progressive Conservatives at barely 30 per cent.
