House flipping in a depressed market

Hello,

I'm new to house flipping and live in Calgary, AB. Due to the poor market I have been looking at properties in surrounding towns but am finding the same road blocks. Definitely better prices outside of Calgary but similar economical problems such as high unemployment rates.

I'd like to stay close enough to Calgary I can properly manage being my first flip but it doesn't look like the market will allow that at this time.

Any recommendations on flipping remotely in a different area or even in the US?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
