EIA crude oil inventories tumbled last week

US crude oil inventories fell last week at the slowest pace we've seen in a while.

Commercial crude inventories fell by 1.9 million barrels in the week ended May 29, according to the Energy Information Administration. It was the fifth straight week of a decline.

IMF warns U.S. Federal Reserve should delay interest rate hike until 2016

The Federal Reserve should hold off from raising interest rates until the first half of 2016, the International Monetary Fund said as it cut its U.S. growth forecast for the second time in three months.

The lender also said that the dollar was “moderately overvalued” and a further marked appreciation would be “harmful,” in a statement released in Washington on Thursday on its annual checkup of the U.S. economy.

Odds of September Fed liftoff climb after payrolls beat forecasts

The odds of a Federal Reserve rate rise in September improved after the best jobs reportin five months eased concerns that the U.S. economy is struggling to regain momentum after a first-quarter contraction.

“I would characterize this as a very strong result,” said Carl Tannenbaum, chief economist at Chicago-based Northern Trust Corp. “It certainly brings a September rate increase into much clearer focus.”
