U.S. economy's rebound much stronger than thought as GDP grows 4.2%

WASHINGTON ` The U.S. economy rebounded more strongly than initially thought in the second quarter and details of a report on Thursday pointed to sustainable underlying strength.

U.S. estate tax primer for Canadians

Here is a wonderfully useful article from www.brighterlife.ca. It talks about tax
rules that will come into effect upon the death of a Canadian who owns property

U.S. companies added 204,000 jobs in August, latest sign of healthy hiring

WASHINGTON - U.S. businesses added jobs at a healthy pace in August, according to a private survey, the fifth straight month of solid gains.

Payroll processer ADP says private employers added 204,000 jobs last month, down from 212,000 in July, which was revised slightly lower. Job gains above 200,000 are usually enough to lower the unemployment rate.

U.S. existing home sales fall, investors pulling back

U.S. home resales unexpectedly fell in August as investors stepped away from the market, but the decline probably does not signal renewed weakness in the housing sector.

The National Association of Realtors said on Monday existing home sales dropped 1.8 per cent to an annual rate of 5.05 million units. The decline followed four straight months of gains and the sales pace was still the second highest for the year.
