Does anyone know if its possible to find out if an illegal basement suite is pending or under investigation by the city?
ie. How do you know if a seller has been busted and just selling his problem?

Has anyone had success contacting neighbors without going door to door to ask about the "suite next door"?

You can phone the city and ask if there`s been any compliants filled against a particular house. I can`t remember the exact depart, but phone 311 and they`ll direct you.
