Can spouse be on Title without being on the Mortgage ?

This question may sound vague but I am asking so as to be sure. For an investment property can a spouse be on title without being on the Mortgage? What are the rules?

I think it is a general rule by lenders... on the title?? on the mortgage!!

Don`t take any legal advice from anybody that`s not a lawyer...but this is what I understand:
Anybody who is on title has to be on the mortgage.
If you own a property with title in just your own name, your spouse owns 50% by way of the matrimonial act
