1.Elbow Park – Glencoe, Calgary

$3,274,333*Lining the Elbow River, this is one of Calgary`s oldest and wealthiest neighbourhoods. Along with neighbouring Mount Royal, Elbow Park-Glencoe is known as the "old money" district of Calgary. There is not a lot of turnover in properties in this stable neighbourhood. You get the old community feel with mature trees and landscapes but are still close to high-end shopping boutiques on 17th Avenue.

2. Mount Royal, Calgary

$2,060,000*On a hill directly south of downtown Calgary, the Mount Royal neighbourhood has a great view of the city. Made up of Upper and Lower Mount Royal, it has some of Calgary`s oldest and largest homes as well as new development. The quiet streets are lined with mature leafy trees. Most of the houses are single-family executive homes. Beside Elbow Park-Glencoe, this neighbourhood is home to Calgary`s "old money."

3. Vancouver west side

(Kitsilano, Arbutus Ridge, Kerrisdale, Mackenzie Heights, UBC, west downtown)
$1,570,884* Properties in this area of Vancouver range from $6-million mansions built on large lots in Arbutus to apartments in old Kitsilano to multi-million dollar condos in Coal Harbour. In the early 20th century, the wealthy of the growing city settled this area, building many large houses on big lots. There are also high-end waterfront properties and access to beaches, including Kitsilano and Jericho.

It now comprises multimillion-dollar mansions sitting behind gates on lots ranging from two to four acres. The houses were built between the 1930s and 1960s and are an eclectic mix of architectural styles ranging adaptations of French chateaus to sprawling bungalows and contemporary creations. Present and former residents include media mogul Moses Znaimer, Conrad Black, Celine Dion and Prince.

Being from Whistler, I thought it might be higher on the list as well, but it isn`t for the same reason that Canmore isn`t. They would be looking at Canmore as a whole, not at individual neighbourhoods, so counting each and every condo or townhouse as well as single family properties when calculating the averages. The places at the top of the list are mostly neighbourhoods within larger cities. Many of these neighbourhoods in the top 10 have few or no multifamily units thus the average price for that particular neighbourhood is obviously going to be much higher.

LOL!

Surprised that some of the inner city Toronto neighborhoods didn`t make this list.

Interesting thread... definitely a refreshing change from the rental product we most often look at on here.

I wonder how large of an area they cover
The median and average price of what most people consider the bridal path is much higher than they`ve listed.

I was noticing that too. you include a condo at $450,000 it will significantly lower the average
