Date on Joint Venture agreement

I have a couple properties purchased a while ago with friends, joint venture agreements were not in place at that time and all deals are based on solid friendship. it worked for us so far at the same time we all agreed that it is time to back ourselves up in formal joint venture. I downloaded simplified JV template from REIN we then stuck by how to sign the date.

in our case should we date the JV as today or should we dated as the time properties were purchased which could be 10 years ago.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Date your JV agreement today and include in it the history you already agreed on and implemented.
The document will tell the entire story as it will be both your JV agreement and a summary (confirmation) of what has already happened per your past verbal agreements.
