Has anyone had time to look over the new budget? Is there any mention of the rollover Harper was harping about? I really like the highlight of the budget. The interest on $5,000/yr. in a savings account won`t be taxed. What a joke! Brian

Good afternoon Brian,

Sorry, I`ve read through the vast majority now but haven`t tackled the Notice of Ways and Means yet. Different references were made in the discussions afterwards about the fact that investors can now earn capital gains tax free, on their $5,000 investment. I`m sure you`re thrilled.

On the plus side, the concept is very new to Canada and we like the idea of earning investment income tax free. Now that this ground has been broken, the debate can shift to what amount of investment can generate tax free returns in future budgets as compared to whether it should be tax free.
