I have a house I bought. Its a bungalow with suite. from the 1950`s. Has hardwood floors on the main floor.

I noticed it has a humidifier hooked up to the furnace. I haven`t used it yet.

I have heard its good to use to keep the hardwood floors from warping but I also heard it can make it easier for mildew/mold to grow ?

Any advice?

My thinking is that you probably don`t need to use it. The wood has been there for decades and it is not going to shrink/warp now. If you were putting new hardwood in, I would say yes, definately. I would also look at a new style humidifier vs the old ones which tend to be innefficient and grow mold themselves.
