Is it recommended to work with a lawyer who works or lives in the city you invest?

For example for purchasing in Orillia is it more recommended to work with a lwayer from Orillia or someone from Toronto should be fine too? A real estate agent told me the lawyers in Toronto will not understand the city, properties and processes as well as a lawyer from Orillia. Thoughts? THANKS

I like to use a lawyer in the city I live in, not where I invest. The reason is it is more convienient for me to sign documents.

I prefer using a lawyer close to where I live except when I am dealing out of province as there are rules about lawyers practicing in a different province

Mike`s got it right. I like to have my lawyer close, my accountant ideally close and the mortgage broker can be remote.
