In addition to this, one could donate to the Red Cross. The RC told us that there is a division to donate directly to the Philippines. (and you get a tax receipt)

I would suggest making your donation through Philippine National Red Cross: http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/wtd.aspx.
They take credit card.
