Hello: I am wondering if in a two year lease, signed in Ontario, the rent can be raised according to the allowable % increase in year two? Or is it automatically assumed that rent will remain the same as in year 1?

Thank you very much

Legally under the Landlord & Tenant act it can be raised. However, your lease can over ride this right if it doesn`t directly state that the increase is applicable. Most leases of longer than 1 year fail to mention this potential increase and then limit the landlord to the contract they signed.
