Secondary Suites Grant Pilot Program - Calgary

Curious to hear what rein members think of this grant pilot program in Calgary. Is it really the best use of funds right now given the excessive rental inventory in the city and rental rates becoming more affordable?
What are your thoughts?

Secondary Suites Grant Pilot Program Open House

Tuesday, September 29 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association, 1320 5th Ave. N.W.
Citizens are invited to attend an open house to discuss the role of secondary suites in meeting affordable housing needs.

I like the idea of the program as I think we should be increasing density (thats the environmentalist in me). Vacancies are going up, but rents are still high and vacancies are still low (<5%). I`m not going to touch whether or not this is the best use of our tax money, but overall I like it.
