We are seeking more websites to add to the `Links to Helpful Websites` list contained with REMA at the bottom of the pull-down menu in Toolkit.

Please send us any new Helpful Websites you know of. We will add them to the ‘Links to Helpful Websites window in REMA for all to use.

Here are a few that we would like to add, and there must be many more...

BC:
-Land Transfer Tax (hopefully a link to Provincial Gov`t web page providing the transfer tax calculation)

-Rent control rules (hopefully a link to Provincial Gov`t web page or two containing good info)

Ontario:
-Land Transfer Tax (hopefully a link to Provincial Gov`t web page providing the transfer tax calculation)

-Rent control rules (hopefully a link to Provincial Gov`t web page or two containing good info)

Thanks in advance,

Hi Garth,

My comment will be about REMA 2.0.63:

When window "Helpful Web Site Links" opens it has incorrect size where majority of page is out of the border and invisible to user. Please adjust it for better presentation.

It makes sense to add:
https://www.mycreditalert.ca/gs/English/index.asp (This site provides credit reports, credit score and alerts online based on Equifax report). I found that my subscription to same TransUnion sevice is a bit cheaper but sort of useless because majority of banks base their decision on Equifax reports. Therefore my TransUnion score is about 100 point higher than Equifax` and it has less queries.)

Another Idea is to convert "Helpful Web Site Links" page into multi-tab. Number of link will grow therefore it will be less space available every single time.

Another way to reorganize it is to convert into the same presentation as web page with hyper-links (the way HTML pages look). It will consume less space than individual buttons for each site.

And a third way is to create web page on remacanada.ca and direct people from REMA software to this page instead of opening window inside the application. This will work for people because if you do not have internet there is no need to go to that window any way. And it will be easier to maintain because need for software upgrade with new links will disappear.

Cheers,
Boris

Good ideas here Boris. We are planning to make multiple tabs and separate them by subject. Also like your idea of using standard form hyperlinks - I will check with Brian on if he can do that.

And thanks for getting the ball rolling with some new websites to add. We will get them in the next version (which is imminent).

Hi Boris,

The Links window, like almost all windows in REMA, is sizable and has a 'memory' so it will open next time exactly as you last left it. Just grab the top portion or a corner of the window and manipulate it to the size and position you want for you monitor.

Great new links to add - we'll get them in the next version.

Here's hoping you will find that calculator. Actually I know you will find it - Boris can find anything.

Hi REMA team,

Here is universal calculator of "Property transfer tax" in any Canadian province. Courtesy of Royal LePage:
http://www.royallepage.ca/CMSTemplates/Cal...d_transfer.aspx

I`m not sure what it does exactly because Don is always joking about such thing in Ontario and saying that in Alberta it does not exist. According to this calculator "Land transfer tax" for $400,000 property in Alberta is $515.

This calculator takes into account different tax rates in different cities of Nova Scotia. I believe soon it will updated for Toronto Land transfer tax introduced a week or two ago.

Hi Boris,

Great link, thanks! That calculator is very interesting. There's a HUGE range of fees for a $400k property with Nova Scotia, BC, Manitoba and Ontario topping the list;

Alberta = $515

British Columbia = $6,000

Manitoba = $4,690

New Brunswick = $1,055

Newfoundland = $1,650

Northwest Territories = ?? ($0?)

Nova Scotia = $6,045 (for the Halifax Region)

Ontario = $4,475

Prince Edward Island = $1,000

Quebec = $4,500

Saskatchewan = $615

Yukon = ?? ($0?)

It almost looks like all provinces have a 'fee' to transfer the title, but some go a step further and charge a tax on top of the fee. Don, is that the idea?

Either way, it's nice to be buying in Alberta right now.

There is no Land Transfer tax in the land of no tax (Alberta). You may be referring to the fees charged to register the Title in Alberta.

I don`t know about the others, although we did juct pay a whopping big transfer tax on Mom`s new house in Waterloo.

Do you have this one? I cut and pasted this whole blurb from the website.

Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service.

http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/index....n=section:rtdrs (Cut and paste this lind into your address bar.)

The Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service (RTDRS) allows landlords and tenants to resolve serious disputes outside of court. It is designed to be less expensive and faster than the usual court process. Disputes are heard by a tenancy dispute officer authorized to make binding decisions on matters such as evictions, security deposits, damage and repairs.

On June 1, 2007, the RTDRS Edmonton office was made permanent and expanded its services to deal with landlord and tenant disputes beyond Edmonton city limits to surrounding areas.

Plans are in place to expand the service to Calgary in early 2008, followed by Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie and becoming available province-wide by 2010.

Learn more about the service.
