Splitting a Land Title In Calgary.

QUOTE (JC51534 @ Mar 29 2008, 05:08 PM) Douglas Surveys did one for me, about 5 grand and 8 months Thanks Jerry. The price sounds ok, but the 8 months makes it a different ball game. That`s a long time. Was that a standard amount of time, or were there other issues? Thanks for the info! Lori

Splitting a Land Title In Calgary.

Hi, I`m considering buying a house in Calgary that is actually a duplex, but it is one property on the land title. I`m curious if anyone knows the cost of splitting the two sides into two separate titles. Has anyone done this before and remember, how hard and expensive it was?

Is it time to sell in Calgary?

I`m glad this topic has gotten a few people talking about the market. I`m very green in all of this, so you have all given me some important information about where to find useful statistics and other information, and also some great advice. I have decided to just sell one house or possibly...

Is it time to sell in Calgary?

QUOTE (Brianrpaul98 @ Mar 20 2008, 11:00 AM) Hi Lori, Firstly, I would inquire about becoming a member and the possibility to listen to the monthly meetings via cd`s etc. I was an expat as well and regret not doing this in my time abroad. This would add immensely to your Real Estate education...

Real Estate Investing In the US

QUOTE (loriintaiwan @ Mar 19 2008, 12:33 AM) Jason, I lived in Calgary before so I have 2 houses there with lots of equity. I want to start to get into investing by buying and rehabbing. (I`m trying to avoid the landlord thing.) I was wondering about holding onto ONE of the houses and selling...

Is it time to sell in Calgary?

I have 2 houses in Calgary, and I want to get started on real estate investing. Both of my houses have about $200K to $250K in equity. I was planning to sell at least one of the houses so that I could take the money and then invest in other markets, possibly in the US. I don`t know much about...

    Joint/partial ownership

QUOTE (UTCVenturesLtd @ Jan 29 2008, 08:50 PM) I really dislike deals with family. I agree. I`m currently being "screwed" by my own brother for over $30,000. I hope he`s the mailman`s kid!

    Assuming Mortgages

QUOTE (GSI @ Mar 19 2008, 04:42 AM) Basically, there are still some non-qualifying assumables available in AB, but those are coming to an end. You can technically 'assume' mortgages in other provinces but with difficulty and you'll need to qualify for them, so in all practicality- no- just in...

Real Estate Investing In the US

QUOTE (JNB @ Jan 31 2008, 11:03 AM) I`ve been constantly looking here in AB, but I haven`t seen anything in a decent neighborhood (good long term potentials) that passes the 10% or even 9% rule (Income to expense ratio). May be it is about time that we will look else where and possibly have or...

Real Estate Investing In the US

QUOTE (JNB @ Jan 31 2008, 11:03 AM) Hi Rebecca, We all do agree to keep it boring and use the REIN research as a guideline, but this should not stop us from considering other areas. I`ve been constantly looking here in AB, but I haven`t seen anything in a decent neighborhood (good long term...

    Assuming Mortgages

I`m new to investing and brand new to this site, so looking for some well informed people to help me a little bit. Sorry if these are stupid questions. I`ve been out of Canada for 5.5 years and recently I heard that the rules about assuming mortgages had changed in Alberta. Does anyone know...
