QUOTE (greg12 @ Jul 8 2010, 11:12 AM) Not a Grande Prairie investor, but I wonder why Fort St. John and Dawson Creek just across the border seem to be doing ok. Their rents are steady with low vacancies despite the low gas prices. The mayor of Dawson creek also said at a BC REIN meeting that...

    Grande Prairie Real Estate Market

Hello fellow GP investors, Just thought I would start a thread to get others opinions and insight into the Grande Prairie real estate market. From my perspective, it has taken a real kicking over the past few years in both property values (down 10-30%) and rents (down 20-50%). Vacancy rates...

    Inner City Condo Market Calgary

Hi Matthew, I can`t help but notice that this is about the 10th post regarding this condo. It appears as though it is causing stress in your life and my suggestion would be to unload this unit and cut your losses. As the experienced Calgary realtors have stated, there will be little to no...

    Lease Option Deposit/Fee

QUOTE (GordonDaniel @ Apr 27 2010, 12:56 PM) Hello All, I just spoke with a potential tenant buyer who asked if he could use his RRSP`s as an Option "deposit". If I understand correctly, you can use your RRSP`s as down payment for your personal residence and not be taxed on them, as long as...

Mortgage Application - Proof of Down Payment - LOC VS. Regular Bank Account

QUOTE (Sherilynn @ Apr 12 2010, 08:40 AM) Reasonably accessible money in RRSP`s is also proof of downpayment. We have used our RRSP mutual funds as proof of downpayment several times and have never cashed in any of them. The bank (or broker) just needs copies of current statements to proove...

    Investments Gone Bad...

We have made a number of good investment choices over the past number of years and made ourselves and our JV partners some good returns in real estate, but I`ll be the first to admit, we`ve personally made a bad one as well and entrusted another individual/company with our hard-earned money...

    Bathroom fixes...

A couple of years ago we received a quote from a company called BATHFITTER to essentially recover the old tub, new hardware etc. It came to $3900, which I thought was ridiculously high. I can renovate and redo the whole bathroom for less than that.
