Not too many years ago, Americans enjoyed about .50 extra on their dollars to buy Cdn dollars. I wonder how many took advantage of investing in our real estate a few years ago and how many now are cashing out on their investments wanting to purchase U.S. properties or going to wait on the sidelines til prices drop further.

Most that I know are smart enough to keep their money in our strong market and not get lured by the `cheap` pitches. They also see what`s coming down there and it is not pretty.

I have a few US JV partners for the most part they are all holding steady. Only one we sold because it said in our agreement we would at that price so it was triggered.

The US investors are still looking to invest here even with the dollar over par.

Regards,

Regards,

That was reminding me of the Iraq war conflict... I remember reading somewhere that a LOT of Americans were so distraught over it that they wanted to leave the country. I wonder how many were successful in migrating to Canada? With our vast resources, we are holding a very good playing card globally! Just read in the Calgary Herald that our rating for investing here has slipped somewhat over the last year probably due to the increase of house prices everywhere or indirectly because of the US economic woes. I have my principle house currently listed and there are lots of potential buyers out there currently. That is a good sign for Calgary. I get around the city daily quite a bit and notice that the sold signs are coming up as well.
