Hello Tony Peters,

I just put out my second run of bandit signs. Very good response from a lot of people including R.C.M.P. The officer said that I cant use the signs without a buisness licence and they have to be removed. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time.

Ask for a reference to the bylaw that requires a business license. If it`s legit, does obtaining a license impede your business? If it means you can leave your signs without being harassed, it might be worth it.

Right on. Thanks for the advice

But are you allowed to advertise there?

Are you allowed to stick signs on stop signs and municipal property? Even if you have a business license you are very rarely allowed to do this. Why do you think there weren`t 100 adds for legit businesses wherever you went to put your own signs? Or businesses hanging huge banners from overpasses? That`s because its NOT ALLOWED or these methods of advertising would be in use by businesses already.

They call them `bandit` signs for a reason LOL.. more than likely you overdid it on your first run and are on the RCMP`s radar as a result.

Another excellent post from Brett.
