Just heard from a reliable source that the number of businesses in Calgary going bankrupt or leaving once their lease expire has risen dramatically! My other half that owns a salon business faced the slow retail months of Jan and Feb after Christmas. She decided to put on a Cut n Color sale.. $59.99 and that probably beats all the other salons out there. A naturally talented jr stylist does the work and the clients get a 5 star look! The phone now rings off the hook at times! People had just put off getting their hair done. A good number of clients are layed off and needing the deal to get them to part with their funds.
I see a lot of businesses out there keeping their prices high or even raising them and wonder why their phones don`t ring... Ideally, you want to get the money of the consumer`s pockets and need the right marketing strategy to do so. Every business needs a strategy that works for their line of work.

Question is do you drop your rental price in the recession or add some fluff to the package such as free cable, heat, push some positive point of your property or ? to entice the potential renter and hold your price or even slightly raise it?
