Another post from Wade`s Blog

I want to paint you three pictures.

The first.....You are with your young family at the lake. The kids are playing in the water and throwing the ball for your faithful dog. Your partner has made a tasty basket of fruit, crackers and wine. The BBQ is cooking up some thick steaks to perfection. You have a cold beverage in your hand...

The second...Whap, whap, whap. The wind is fierce and the snow is blowing hard. There are is a small group of you and your friends in a huddle. And then, silence. You look up to see nothing but white mountains. You`re living your dream and the helicopter has just dropped you on top of a pristine white face of snow that awaits your perfect ski turns to be carved into it.....

The last....It`s just you. You`re paddling along the brook in your canoe. In your right hand is a #6 fly rod. You pull out four arm lengths of neoprene line and start to caste. The line floats back in forth in the air. You see a large rainbow trout rise near an old log that hanging out from the shore. You send the fly with laser precision three feet in front of the trout. Without hesitation the rainbow strikes the line and the tranquility of the moment is broken with a splash.....
Visualization is a powerful tool and if the vision and desire is strong enough you will be amazed at how they become reality. Painting the picture of what it is that you want in your life will put you on the path to bringing those dreams to fruition.

Like most, I first learned visualization skills in my athletic life...first playing hockey as a kid, but then much more powerfully in my life as a climber. Before I would start any climb I would visualize myself successfully climbing the route. I knew what each move felt like, what the air temperature was, how the rope felt in my hands as I tied in, who was my belayer was and the words of encouragement they were saying as I battled my way through the crux. I often knew before I left the ground if I would be successful just based on the visualization I had done.

When it comes to your life, what are you visualizing? Where do you see yourself? How will it feel? What will it smell like? Who will be with you? Why is it that you are doing it all?

Each year I write a visualization of my life and read what I wrote the year before. The first time you do this you will be amazed.....after you write them down.....for some crazy reason....the visualizations start to come true. Most people (myself included) will discount it but then next year the same thing happens and it gets hard to just shrug it off. You start to really believe in the process and then almost all of what you write that year comes to reality. Weird.....maybe, but you can`t argue with success.

So this year instead of making promises you won`t keep about weight loss and gym time in your head, try sitting down for an hour and write it out. Try sharing it with those that are close to you. Make sure to include personal, financial, social and spiritual aspects and see what happens.

What have you got to lose? What have you got to gain?

This single action may have had the biggest impact on my life. I actually start each day this way spending an hour visualizing my day. What`s going to happen? Who will I talk to? Where am I going? Whose life am I affecting? Try it for one week instead of opening your email and unleashing the chaos that it brings on.

Please let me know what visualization does for you!var jcomments=new JComments(65, `com_content`,`http://www.hgrei.com/index.php?option=com_jcomments&tmpl=component`);jcomments.setList(`comments-list`);

Although I don`t write down my visualizations, nor do I know if they work or not, I do notice that during bear markets (eg. mid-90s RE market, 2000-2002 tech crash, 2007-current U.S. credit crisis, 2007-2008 stock crash) the image of bloody chum hitting the water in a pool of sharks often comes to mind.
In a bull market (eg. current stock and local RE markets), the target is like a strong, healthy animal. I am hidden and nowhere to be found. Going after this target can get you hurt. In a bear market, when the target becomes injured, weak or ill, I become extremely predatory. I can almost taste the blood.

I like to shoot fish in a barrel. But I like to do it after the water has run out."
