Canada`s Number of bankruptcies, EI recipients up in January

Canada`s grim economic picture is reflected in new statistics that show a marked increased in both consumer bankruptcy rates and Employment Insurance benefit recipients in Canada.

According to Statistics Canada, the number of Canadians who are getting Employment Insurance benefits rose 4.4 per cent in January, to 560,400.
