Canada will be first to rebound, PM says
CAROLINE ALPHONSO, Globe and Mail Update
In an appearance before the Brampton Board of Trade that his officials billed as a major speech, Mr. Harper outlined the government`s plans for dealing with the slowdown and attempted to sow optimism amid deepening economic gloom.
“Canada was the last advanced country to fall into this recession. We will make sure its effects here are the least severe, and we will come out of this faster than anyone and stronger than ever,” Mr. Harper said Tuesday.
“Canada should avoid both significant deflation and renewed inflation, both of which are significant risks in other countries.”
