Can anyone give me some advice on installing dryer venting in my condo?? I'm on the first floor-corner unit-and the laundry/storage room is seperated by the bedroom to the outside wall. I have been calling some heating/mechanical cmpanies to install and finally found one who would be willing to come give an estimate but he said it could be rather expensive. I am on the condo board and there are others in the building that want to get it done and some people on the 3rd (top)floor are getting getting them installed by going out the roof. Also are there any good books on how to manage and increase profitability of a condo builing and suite??? Thanks!!

The most effective solution is to get a dryer that dries the air and then only emits WATER .. and warm air.

This assumes you have a drain / water connection in your dryer room.

We have such a dryer in our condo in BC. The air is still somewhat moist, and thus we leave the door open, and start the next door bathroom fan.

As soon as you vent outside you need a building permit and condo board approval.

I would assume that drilling through the roof and walls contravenes your condo bylaws. Units making such changes without written permission could be forced to return the walls/roof to original condition at their expense.

As a member of the board, I would be hesitant to allow units to vent through the roof or the walls unless you have one contractor that will do the work for all interested units. Then you will have a consistent appearance. (I have a mental picture of a block of swiss cheese, not great for curb appeal.)
