Enmax gets city nod for power plants

The City of Calgary has given Enmax Corp. a $1.6-billion green light to build three power plants that ultimately could supply two-thirds of the city`s electrical needs.

It`s the largest single financial commitment in the municipal utility`s nine-year corporate history, and will go toward adding up to 1,200 megawatts to the grid in southern Alberta.
