Rents for rural Canada, in this case, Estevan and Weyburn, Saskatchewan, have surpassed even Vancouver rental prices. The key is the quality and quantity jobs available in the Bakken oil fields. These types of high paying, quality jobs attract renters like crazy, and really push up the value of rental properties, and support a growing housing market. Lack of such quality jobs in Vancouver is causing rental rates to fall behind stronger economies, and further reducing the value of the over-hyped, trendy properties. It will only be a matter of time before the market comes to grip with the reality that there is not enough income in Vancouver to support such an expensive market.
