Hello Fellow Investors,

I've interviewed Lawyer, Shayle Rothman, about the best practices for evicting tenants. There are a lot of houses with basement apartments in the Toronto Beaches, which means there are a lot of tenants to deal with. Shayle shares with us the good and bad news about the eviction process as well as doing your due diligence prior to inheriting existing tenants. Is there a faster and cheaper way to evict tenants? What is one of the biggest differences between a Commercial Tenant and a Residential Tenant?

There is not much meat to the interview. The interview really only touched on eviction for personal use.

Regrettably in Ontario evictions are extremely difficult to accomplish and to be honest implying that the filing of the paper work to evict is all that is necessary to be successful is a bit misleading. In a true eviction that is only the beginning of a process that could take 4-6 months if successful and that's a big if.
