Hi,

Could anyone give me a ballpark figure of what it would cost to carpet the 2nd floor (and stairs) of an 1100 sq ft. townhouse in Edmonton? (With a durable Berber).

Thanks,
Nicola

Hi Nicola

This will vary significantly

For what most people would find adequate/good (though you can find much cheaper / more expensive) expect the carpet to cost apx. $2-$2.50 / sq ft - and underlay $0.5/sq ft for underlay - So apx. $1375 for 550 sq ft. and installation apx $500 and removal of old carpet apx. $100-$150... so total around $2000 ... but again you can spend much less / more depending on what carpet you prefer.

We are installing standard berber including all the labor and underpad & carpet for $1.99/sqft. That includes 10 steps. Upgrade berber is $2.99/sqft, shag is $3.99.sqft, Plush & luxury is starting from $4.99 to $7.99/sqft. Vinyl is all included for $2.99/sqft.
Calculate your square footage for the area, add 10-15% waste factor (this is depending on your shape of the rooms) multiply by one these number above+GST.

These are Calgary prices.
