Hello All; I have a 6 month lease coming due on a single detachted house and my renters have requested to remain an extra month.
Rather then go to a month to month deal I was thinking I should have them sign some sort of lease extension.
Anyone know where I can access a template? Is this the right approach?
Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,

My method of handling this is to hand-write on the lease itself the following words:
"As of <today`s date> all parties to this lease hereby agree to extend the lease to <new date>. All terms and conditions remain unchanged."

Then I and the tenant(s) sign immediately below those words.

Hope that helps,

do you wish them to leave ?

Why do anything ? month-to-month is OK with decent tenants, unless you expect trouble.

Thanks for the advise Garth, I will do just that.

Thanks Thomas, for your reply. I don`t think my tenants will try to pull a fast one.... That being said, I would still like to cover my butt as best I can.

Cheers
Joe
