Halifax retail vacancy rate rises to 8.4%
The Halifax region maintained an average retail vacancy rate of 8.4 per cent in the second half of last year.
It’s an increase over the 8.1 per cent retail vacancy rate recorded in the first half of the year, according to a 2014 market summary from Cushman & Wakefield Atlantic.
Mixed-use projects contributed to the increase.

Housing market in St. John's expected to flatline this year
The once-sizzling housing market in the St. John's area continues to lose steam, with the number of homes sold dropping by nine per cent last year, and housing prices flatlining after years of head-shaking growth.
Starts for single detached dwellings last year — just over 900 — also dropped to their lowest levels since 2001, and the number of active listings have been growing steadily, now standing at roughly 2,500 units.

PEI unemployment rate drops in February
P.E.I.’s unemployment rate dropped slightly last month thanks to fewer people looking for work.
The latest figures from Statistics Canada show P.E.I.’s unemployment rate dropped from 10.2 per cent in January to 10.1 per cent in February.

New Brunswick jobless rate drops to 10.4%
New Brunswick’s jobless rate jumped to 10.4 per cent in February as the provincial economy shed 2,200 jobs, according to Statistics Canada.
The monthly labour force report, which was released on Friday, showed the unemployment rate increased from 10 per cent in January.
