I want to discuss Fort Mcmurray and see if anybody would talk to me through email about learning the ropes of property management here. 2nd I want to purchase a rental property in Mazatlan Mexico, to surprise my wife. Potential for %15-30 growth.

My suggestion would be to travel up to Fort Mc and check things out for yourself. Find a good realtor and interview some property mgt companies. There are many REIN members who reside up there so pick their brain as well.

As for the Mexico deal...make sure you do a TON of due diligence. Most tropical investments are NOT as good as they sound. Do you actually own the property? Can you sell anytime? What are the tax implications? Who will rent it during the non-peak season? Visit the property twice during peak and non-peak seasons...etc etc.

My suggestion...buy a bunch of properties here in Alberta and Saskatchewan and hold for 5 years and then go buy somewhere hot when you have the excess funds to fool around with!!
