Gentlemen and ladies...
My name is Shane Peters. 31. Married. Three girls under seven. One more due in about three weeks. I work as an Underwriter for a small Sask insurance company.
I am realizing that the hopes and dreams I have for my wife and four girls are not going to happen based on employment income.
I need to get investing figured out. I am very much an analyzer and I need to learn how to act. We`ve struggled to figure out money for so long that coming up with our Personal Belize has been quite hard. Just surviving seemed like a big enough challenge, let along anything beyond it.
I am sincerely looking for a mentor in the Saskatoon area. Everyone posting here appears to be from BC, Alberta, or BC. But I figure there`s someone around here, I just haven`t found them yet.
I read REI-in-C and now want to move forward.
Our financial situation at a glance: We have less than $3000 in debt (student loans) left, and $1,700 in the bank and are expecting $1,000 or more for our income tax refund. We are in the process of getting out home appraised (got into a home in a small town 35 min north of Saskatoon just before the b-o-o-m) and I`m hoping to access at least $10,000 if not more in equity.
Would love help from someone with a lot of experience and the skill and patience to work with a dedicated and astute student. Thanks in advance.
