It is my understanding that the only way to ask for a vacated apartment upon closing, is when the purchaser wants to move into that apartment. Is there a timeframe that the purchaser will have to stay in the unit before it could possibly be rented out again? Thanks for any advice on this matter.

A year is common as tenants have up to one year to file applications at the LTB against former landlords.
If however a owner/occupant has a reason for moving out in less than a year it may be justified.
