-While people in some eastern provinces might be looking for work, companies in Regina are looking for workers, spurring the city`s business leaders and officials to tap into Toronto`s labour pool.-Saskatchewan has had a worker shortage for two years, while Toronto has endured job cuts for the past six months
-"Saskatchewan may not escape the impact of this world financial crisis, but it`s an awfully better place to be than Toronto"
-In the first three-quarters of last year, the city had a net gain of 8,000 people from other provinces
-Local leaders also hope to turn the region into a hub for imports and exports. Last year, the provincial and federal government announced financial backing for a new CP intermodal facility west of Regina. The million-square-foot facility will generate 750 jobs in the next two years and 1,500 by 2017, creating more demand for workers.
