Many of the tenants in our building are single seniors. Rents @ 640 to 660 for large 2 bedrooms apartments south of Edmonton.
Prior to rental increase, I gave them information regarding government assistance programs. Many are in the parameters for assistance, but all 4 tenants have been declined help. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Any suggestions for rental assistance?

We deal with Calgary Housing - not sure if there is an equivalent org where you live... You might want to talk to the local social agencies for a contact.

Budgets are tight for sure - we asked if they would take additional units into the program a year ago and were advised no, and we just applied for an annual increase in rent, and were advised to "stay tuned" for the time being.....

Thanks Neill
I did visit the local society and gave each tenant a brochure, business contact card and assistance brochure. I included this information with each tenant`s rental increase. I thought that this would give those who might need assistance 3 months to apply.
Even though there were tenants who qualified - all were turned down.
