A lot of the houses in Calgary with the pine shakes are being re-roofed. Most I see are being done with light weight concrete tiles. I`ve also seen some metal roofs and rubber shake roofs. Without getting into cost specifics of each style, does any style signficantly affect the resale value of a house? Is there any perception that a particular style is a downgrade? Is any style considered a signficant upgrade? Should this be a significant factor in assessing a property?
In the areas I`m concerned with, architectural restrictions pretty much eliminate asphalt shingles, but pretty much any of the other 3 styles I mentioned seem okay and seem to be used (but the concrete tiles seem to dominate).
Thanks
