I am expecting a letter of offer this week from Husky and will be looking to move to Calgary probably by the end of the month. I have been looking around the Calgary area for housing. I will need to line up something temporary and then locate a house to buy probably in the Okotoks area. What should I be looking for or rather where should I be looking for temporary accommodations?
I will have to either sell my house in Evansburg or rent it out. I am pretty much in a mind either direction I head, not sure what would work at this point in time. Suggestions?
I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT NOT NOT sell the house in Evansburg. I am familiar with that market and now is not a good time to sell. Rents should come close to servicing that debt. Can you afford to purchase in Okotoks? If so, start looking now for place to buy and start packing...As well, put an ad in the local paper for a renter to take over your Evansburg property the beginning of October. I have rental out there and I had a very good selection of tenants to choose from using this medium...it is dirt cheap as well.
I would get a Realtor on the ground in Okotoks...after you have spoken to a broker re: financing the property and establishing your price point in Okotoks while owning and renting out the Evansburg property. If you do recieve the job from Husky you sort of have to be there right??? You still have time to purchase something IF you get moving on it...Tell botht he Realtor and the broker your timeline. There will be vacant properties with quicjk possesions and motivated vendors.

I agree with Lucas - hold on to that property and rent it if you can. It always seems tough to do that - "where will I get the downpayment for the new home to replace it?" is often a big issue. You can find a way if your work hard enough at it.

no rush to buy .. rent a year .. check out the area .. write loads of offers .. then buy in a year !
Don`t sell a small house that can easily be rented out. I do not know where Evansburg is ! AB ? ON ? SK ? The moon ?
