Here`s a new blog post I pushed live today: The Key to a Successful Real Estate Investment Group

…is to be a real estate investment group. Period.

That’s really all there is to it. Your group need to be about that one topic and everything you do needs to be aligned to that objective.

REIN’s tagline on the homepage of www.realestateinvestingincanada.com is:

Discover How, When And Where To Buy
Canadian Positive Cash Flow Real Estate

And that’s it. I can’t really phrase it better than that. I suspect that REIN’s internal mantra is:
Educate investors about real estate investing to help them achieve their personal goals
.

Where the other real estate investing groups go off the tracks is when they start deviating from reason everyone’s there. We go to workshops to learn about investing in real estate. Not to buy dumbass investments, or to buy a $25,000 mentorship program. We’re there to learn more, and improve ourselves. Anything outside of that is a distraction and not worthy of your time.

Consider the difference between Google’s homepage and Yahoo’s hompage. You already know which one is more successful.

One complex. One simple.

I hope that Don, Russell and the rest of the REIN team take note. You’re doing an awesome job. Keep focused on the goal.

Agreed. However they up sell their info packages that should be available for free. Why I`m I paying more to get info on multi-family investments? Renovation secrects? JV? Etc...Big $$$ too

Small $$$ when compared to other programs, and fairly well priced compared to the amount of effort that goes into making them. You also get a lot of free info on those topics just at the regular rein meetings, so you do get access to a lot of it already. There can also be a benefit to creating some barrier to entry for some areas, as it keeps the tire-kickers out.

That said, I`m not always convinced that the packages serve the goal I identified above. I do think that a simple REIN membership and the help available on here is more than enough for 98% of people. The JV secrets and such aren`t needed for the first couple properties.

I agree, having been to some other 3 day seminars, already costing in the area of $500 then being upsold other `intensive` 3 day courses for the cost of $5000, yes that is 3 zeros. REIN is good value if you use all the resources available, so much that I have trouble keeping up.

This of course is not as applicable to a WISE person (Well I`ve Seen Everything)
