What`s the best lease to use for a renewal ?

I have some great tenants who have decided to stay another year. Current lease expires June 1st.



Do I just need to cross out the "end date" on the current lease and get them to sign it or is it best to do up a whole new lease again?

What does your provincial tenancy act say regarding this matter?

In Ontario, where I am, every tenant at the end of the lease automatically goes month to month with all the language of original lease remaining in place. Tenant/LL security is unaffected by the change over to month to month. No new lease required. In fact a LL can not force a tenant to vacate the unit or sign a new lease unless the tenant voluntarily agrees.

I will check. Yes, in this case, they want to sign a new year lease.....so thats taken care of...Just wasnt sure if I needed a anew lease or not...
