Will the elimination of the HST be a positive or a negative for BC Real Estate ?

While I understand the voter backlash against the BC Liberals, primarily the former Premier of BC, Gordon Campbell, I personally think the elimination of the HST was a mistake by BC voters who, by a 55 to 45% margin, voted to scrap it. It will increase cost overall, it will lower BC's competitiveness, it will increase its bureaucracy and it will increase its debt twofold: through lower taxes and lower economic growth.

Some agree, like Jack Mintz, the (conservative) Professor for Public Policy at University of Calgary who opines here that BC will lose 100,000 jobs: http://opinion.financialpost.com/2011/08/30/jack-mintz-the-price-of-anger/

while others think it may benefit restaurants and certain goods & services that now are PST exempt, like realtors or new homes/condos, such as here: http://www.660news.com/news/local/article/271033--scrapping-hst-may-prove-to-be-a-boom-for-b-c-s-realtors

It will also increase the likelihood of an NDP win in the next provincial election, a real disaster for BC and its economy. We have put our BC real estate purchases ON HOLD for the time being, and will shift even more $s to ALBERTA and possibly Saskatchewan until the dust clears here !

A BAD DAY FOR BC !!
