Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a investment mortgage broker in Winnipeg. Preferably someone that has their own investment properties as experience. I feel I should refinance my own personal mortgage as it could benefit me by taking advantage f a lower rate as well as start building my 'team'.
Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Layce

Just assumed that was the best so I could get a feel for the person and thought proximity would come into play when I was discussing morthage /financing issues. Anybody have any experience using out of town team members? Id like to hear how this works or has worked for you

I'm from Winnipeg and I use REIN member Peter Kinch from Port Moody, BC. 98% of his cliental are investors. Work with the best, not with someone who happens to be working close to you. Click Here to go to his website.

Yes, don't be concerned with provincial boundaries when looking for a mortgage broker. I've got clients in Alberta, Ontario, and most provinces.

Pick your broker based on their expertise.

Thanks Rob. Are the other members of my team that Don't need to have the close proximity?

Most of the other members like realtors and lawyers are licensed per the province. You accountant would be another one that doesn't have provincial boundaries, as long as they have experience with your particular provinces tax credits etc.

Nothing against Peter. I've chatted with him on the phone and read his books. He's a very intelligent and experienced broker. I was going to use his brokerage, but decided against it. The long distance part does play a factor. You have phone calls you will have to pay for and you will never meet anyone face to face. In my opinion, if you are going to invest in Winnipeg, and you live there, use someone local. Gord Brady or Greg Mason, from Bayhill Financial in Winnipeg are who I use exclusively. They are able to get financing secured quickly. I've given them time frames that seem ludicrous to most brokerages and they always get it done. Plus you can go to their office in Osborne Village and actually sit down with them face to face.
