Just did it with life insurance.  Makes way more sense and gives your surviving spouse far more options should something happen.  This one is a no brainer.  The banks are the beneficiary of the policy if you buy insurance from them..

Also watch out for the bank holding up the cash and reporting it to the CRA..  Anything over 10K coming from overseas and they have to account for it..  This may hold things up. As for the 90 day rule, showing proof you`ve had the funds for at least 90 days, I haven`t run into that before I...

Not sure how things work in Alberta but here in Ontario you must file some paperwork confirming that the unit has been vacated thus nullifying the lease.   This is good news because you can also chase them in small claims court for damages.  It would be good if they could be served for this...
