Sask. leads country in most areas
Saskatchewan ranks either first or second in the country in nine out of 10 economic indicators, according to an economic checklist released by the provincial government on Monday.
According to the checklist, Saskatchewan led the country in growth in wholesale trade and retail sales, the value of residential building permits and projected GDP growth for 2008. The province finished in second place for growth in population, average weekly earnings, overall building permits and new vehicle sales. Saskatchewan`s 3.4-per-cent unemployment rate, meanwhile, was the second lowest in the country.
