    4 plex investment

I'm currently finalizing my divorce and looking at getting back into real estate in the next few months. I came across what I think is a pretty good deal, just wondering if multi-family experts can weigh in their opinion. I will share as much info as I have, I realize it might not be enough...

    Investment properties after divorce?

It seems like the best route might be to hold the properties and remove one name from the mortgages and titles. Since the mortgage penalties will be about $10000 in total the costs associated with some name changes on the titles must be less......I would hope!

    Investment properties after divorce?

So the brand new application would also involve paying off any penalties would it not? In that case it might not be worth it for him to hold since one penalty is $9000 Might as well share the loss and move on

    Investment properties after divorce?

A friend of mine is getting a divorce and asked me what I thought about dividing the assets, I had no idea so I thought I would ask on here. His scenario is that he has 3 properties, each worth roughly $325000 with very little equity in any of them. They are all located in Alberta (Edmonton...

    Any tips for Saskatoon??

Thanks for the tip. Definitely not going to be a condo, just not my thing. Rather rent a basement suite

    Any tips for Saskatoon??

Thanks very much! That alphabet district does seem like a sketchy part of town!

    Any tips for Saskatoon??

I will be moving to Saskatoon in the near future and want to start planning how I can make some money in real estate once I get there. I likely won't be buying until early 2017, maybe even middle of 2017 so I hope the market is near the bottom at that time. I was thinking about buying an older...

My brother is a carpenter and he did quite well at that until he switched back to farming.

    real estate newbie

Get a better trade! I'm an electrician and make a very good wage so I'd recommend that if you're good at math, but it depends on you. Either way it keeps you working along the way making money. I would buy a house with a basement suite and live downstairs so that it is almost as cheap as living...

    Garage with suites above

GREAT point about the setbacks.....I know they are fairly high which will make it eat up lot space in a hurry. Forgot about that! Thanks

    Garage with suites above

My plan is to buy the house myself and bring in a JV to pay for the garage build. I would hate to buy the place and find out that they won't allow me to build it but I'm sure the permits and re-zoning would take so long that I would need to buy it and wait patiently.... Going to make some calls...

    Garage with suites above

Has anyone on here has any experience with garage suites? I'm finding some good deals on older homes with bigger lots and alley access. In some cases they don't have existing garages. Would it make sense to build one that has a suite above it? What kind of zoning is required for this? I am in...

NDP Impact on Alberta real estate ?

I'm far from an expert but I think the next 6-12 months might actually be a great time to buy more properties. There comes with it a bigger risk than we are used to in Alberta, but with job losses increasing the prices should come down, rents should stay reasonably strong because despite all the...
