Hi all,

An article from the April 23rd edition of The Province. Excerpts:

Two weeks from now, when the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre opens its new 7,000-seat, multipurpose complex, the local business community will be cheering just as loudly as anyone.

That`s because in 2006 it spearheaded a broad community-wide drive to make sure a controversial Abbotsford referendum on building three major civic facilities was approved.

"Usually business does everything it can to keep taxes as low as possible, but we supported the referendum because we realized that a great town for doing business in also has to be a great town to live in," says David Hull, executive director of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce.

"If, for example, an Abbotsford company like Cascade Aerospace wants to attract a world-class engineer, it also has to offer that person`s family some benefits, too."
