Article: Return of the Renter, with demographics

QUOTE (bizaro86 @ Jul 29 2010, 04:46 PM) Hello,

There was an interesting article in this week`s Barron`s regarding "the return of the renter" it`s US based, but it did have some interesting demographic information, which is pretty similar between the US and Canada.

Thanks Michael. I`ve read a few similar articles, but not the one from Barrons.

Rentals change from city to city. In Edmonton, for the past 15 years, renters continue to between 33-39% of the total households. Renters peaked in the late 1970`s before condos became the norm for a housing option.

Canada is not building rental housing (other than affordable housing), and this makes the long term outlook for being an landlord very positive.
